Gothropology is an anthropology & psychology-centric show that discusses ancient traditions, spirituality, sex and death- hosted by Brit-El Mabourakh, the guide to come and take you by the hand into unknown pleasures.

Today, Tiana Marie of Constructs of Ritual Evolution opens up on the spiritual nature and emotional catharses of hook suspension- suspending the human body from hooks through temporary piercings in the flesh. She offers advice to those considering suspending, discusses carrying energy in suspensions. Gradually, Tiana discusses insight on her personal life, from how suspension effects socializing and dating, personal trauma, and the mystical mother that is Chelsea Wolfe. Tune in if you’re not looking for a simple, lighthearted episode.

This month we are covering the topic of sex as it relates to goth culture, scene and club culture, and its link to sexual expectations of the greater mainstream culture. Issues such as goth club environments, bisexuality, polyamory, and romance will be explored in the context of personal meaning, socialization, and the sociological perspective. My hope is that we can come away with a better understanding of ourselves as sexual creatures, the goth subcultures approach to the issue of sex and sexuality, and understand how outside influences can exert unforeseen influence on our sexual identities.
