Part 2 of 2

Year: 1991

Albums: Odds 'n' sods, one-hit wonders, outliers & honourable mentions

Continuing their grab-bag of oddities and outlier tracks, our diminutive weirdos hold up Flesh for Lulu, Leonard Cohen and, dare I say it, even a track by Ultravox for special mention. In the stories of their lives, the year of 1991 saw dreams begin to fade and new ideas take their place, as the horizons of adulthood loomed more solidly into view.

This month, Arcane Machine celebrates two milestones: our 1 year anniversary, and the close of one of the most terrifying years in modern history. It’s been a crazy journey! Fortunately, while there’s a lot of 2020 content we’d like to forget, there was also a ton of incredible music put forth by goth and industrial artists. So starting an Arcane Machine January tradition, Justin and Ed will celebrate their podcast birthday by looking back at the previous year’s music and picking some of their favorites. Please enjoy some new music by AM faves like Rotersand and Der Prosector, along with newcomers like The Kentucky Vampires and Night Club.  Send your listener submissions/ suggestions to arcanemachinepodcast@gmail.com!

The Arcane Machine is a monthly show with supplemental content on Facebook, Twitter, and Discord throughout each month. If you like what you hear, please visit the artists’ pages linked below and buy some music!

The last chapter of Arcane Machine year one is upon us! Being December and all, our hosts have attempted to bring a little holiday doom-and-gloom to an already strange winter season. We’ve got the next entry in our Ministry timeline, as well as a few industrial bangers from bands like 16Volt, Neuroticfish, and and Martin Atkins. Have a safe and blessed holiday, whatever you celebrate! Big thanks to David Everett for this chapter’s listener submission. In the Victorian tradition of sharing Ghost stories around the holidays, the MCP presents The Ghost's Summons by Ada Buisson, a short horror story originally published in 1868.

Part 1 of 2

Year: 1991

Albums: odds 'n' sods - one hit wonders, outliers and honourable mentions

Our trad-goth raggedy men turn their attention to that miscellany of one-off favourites that helped complete their constellation of beloved goth and alternative tracks. From unsigned bands with nothing to lose, to uncharacteristically dark offerings from otherwise uncool mainstream bands, the list is refreshing, revealing and not a little controversial.
