This week’s episode takes a look at 3 classic Dracula Adaptations, beginning with Dracula (1931), The Horror of Dracula, and Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Each film has its own individual style from the suave delivery of Bela Lugosi to the Menacing and campy performance by Christopher Lee or the passionate depiction by Gary Oldman. We discuss what makes each of these films unique and pivotal to the history of Dracula in the World of film.

This month, as you know, we are talking about ageing in spectacular youth culture. Over time there have been a growing number of academics researching and studying the aging demographic of subcultures, and as someone who intends to grow old as a goth, and respects my elders, I thought it was high time we sat down with some seasoned goths to explore their involvement and identity in the goth culture.

Dear fans, followers, listeners – The Dark Light will be taking a hiatus of indeterminate time.

Why, might one ask, would a creature of the night need such a break?  Do not immortals have all of the time in the world?  Perhaps.  However, it has come down to this: It is my hope that you enjoy this show and as an artist, I wish to perfect it.  There has been a disconnect and, at times, a lapse in quality.  It stirs unwanted emotions within my troubled soul.  Resources will be gathered, logistics re-evaluated and within time, a more formidable and powerful product will result.  As always, I cherish your patience, your feedback and your patronage.

Stay tuned.   I will maintain my online presence and post occasional short episodes as the muse hits.  I will continue The Dark Light’s social media postings; music updates and information, links and news of an interesting nature as well as the occasional snippet of short prose.

Be true, my cherished ones.  Be patient.  That is all this dark soul can ask, for it is all I have left.

My darkest wishes – Mikhail.

Gothropology is the show that discusses ancient traditions, modern heretics, mortality, sexuality and regeneration- the guide to come and take you by the hand into unknown pleasures.

On this episode, witness Brit-El and The Swede talking about one man’s experience in the world-famous Wasteland Weekend, a four-day desert extravaganza of all things Mad Max. Thousands of post-apocalyptic lunatics flock to the Southern California desert for Wasteland in September, and for the past few years, The Swede has been the live radio voice of the tribe. Broadcasting on actual radio frequency and not on the Web, The Swede is on air all hours of the night and day for much of the four days of Wasteland. From his radio insomnia, Wasteland-style vehicle decoration, to what separates the Mad Max style from other post-apocalyptic garb and much more, tune in for the whole historic conversation on KPCRadio.com and The Belfry Network.

We are interviewing Emma tonight about socio-aesthetic experiences of culture, cultural history, viewing goth as a culture rather than subculture, and the sociology of design; specifically how that translates into communities of belonging especially among goths. Emma is now undertaking a PhD as a participant researcher. She recently conducted the largest ever survey about goth, among participants of the culture for that very project, which is titled Just a Phase?  Goth subculture as an identity constant beyond youth.

On this installment of Gothropology, Griffin Ced and your haunted host Brit-El discuss Ostara and the spring equinox: the finding of inner peace and stability whilst weathering the turmoil of others, and harnessing the creative forces in the season of change. The revealing nature of the season's light, the potential of spring as the transgender-oriented, gender-negatory festival of the Wheel, the strength of the tide... join in on the conversation on stirring energy and awakening light. Griffin and Brit-El also discuss the need to drink directly from the Well of creation on our own rather than glorifying actions in the past, of giving honor to the Hero rather than celebrating the Victim, and another way to celebrate easter: Odin!

What are the right questions that open the most interesting doors? Tune in for insight on the tides that rush to push the awakening of spirit, and follow The Green Man's events on their calendar and Facebook.
