While Hallie moves and gets settled, please enjoy this fantastic psychological story by Charlotte Perkins Gilman.

Trigger Warning: This story depicts the point of view of a person suffering from mental illness (post-natal depression and anxiety). The 'treatment' standard for the time and the lack of support by family and friends worsens this condition over the period covered in the story.

If you need a jumpstart on Gothic films, along with a bit of info on what goes into them, this one's for you!

Feb 15, 2018

Many of you have noticed the lack of content from me over the past few months due to family illness. While I don't have the time at the movement to create new episodes, I can reach way back into the archives to some of my original shows, some of the best episodes of The Requiem, and share them with you.

This episode comes out of my time on the Faction 6 podcast, and the episode is a audio representation of a descent into madness, the journey from joyful bliss to full mental breakdown, something that's been a theme in my life the past year. I hope you enjoy. Here is the text from the original post:

Midnight Mass is a monthly Goth/industrial podcast mixed byDJ Count. You will hear an infusion of atmosphere, ambiance, and a theme into each mix. Therefore, it is not just music, but an experience. The idea behind Midnight Mass is this; a gathering of all the black sheep, the rejected, the neglected. Conjoining together, “in black communion. Beneath the glow of the moon, and upon the graves of the dead.” This show is best enjoyed after sunset.

Episode 4 (The Descent)
For this episode of Midnight Mass, we embark on a journey into the most secretive and depraved underworlds of society. I will lead you from the glorious heights of the human race (EBM/Future pop) into a gradual downward spiral through pain and desolation (Helektro/Terror EBM) until our final destination, the abyss. (Noize/total chaos)
1 – Beloved – VNV Nation
2 – Someday I’ll Find You – Decence
3 – Faces (WHS Remix) – NamNamBulu
4 – Wonder – Culture Kulture
5 – Unter der Linden (Club Version) – Heimataerde
6 – Never Ending Lie – Supreme Court featuring Feindflug
7 – Cmon Devil – X-Fusion
8 – Dead Culture (Endzeit Mix By KrachMaschine) – Acylum
9 – No More Room In Hell – [x]-Rx
10 – Catatonic Dreams (C/A/T Rmx) – Sam
11 – 100% Eletronik – FabrikC
12 – The Rogue Pair (V.1) – C/A/T
13 – Sponge Octopus – Merzbow

Today's episode is about the importance of the post-punk movement to the gothic subculture. I'm including the start, the sound, and the death of the movement, but I encourage you to read Rip it Up and Start Again: The Messy History of Post PUnk if you want a more in-depth read on the major influences.

Welcome to 2018 and the very first podcast for the year! This is our 20th show since we started back in October 2016. This week we interview Romie Romak (based in Portland) and Taylor Shechet (based in LA) from the band GRYPT. I first discovered this group as I was in the process of shooting an Official Video for Necromancy. The track Tin Can Tomb I found on bandcamp and being it was gritty, dark and Romie’s vocals were eerie af, I knew it would be perfect for the video – and the rest as they say is history.

Many cultures and religions seem to have holidays around this time of year. Without much effort, the layers of the Christian holiday of Christmas can be peeled back to reveal its origins in more ancient pagan traditions from across Europe. Characters like Santa Claus, Jack Frost and the elves all have their bases in far more ancient characters of myth and folklore. Some of these characters are far less jolly than their modern counterparts. One of these darker characters is the Krampus.
